MSP Stephanie Callaghan visits Kigtek
Kigtek were delighted to host Stephanie Callaghan MSP and Andrew Richmond to our office in Bellshill. It was great to give them a deeper insight into the business and our contributions to advance manufacturing in Scotland while also discussing some of the challenges the industry has faced due to the impact of the pandemic. Time was also spent discussing how to engage with younger generations in order to encourage a career in engineering – particularly software and control system engineering. It was mutually agreed that raising awareness of the diversity of these career paths at a younger age would hopefully encourage and inspire young people to consider these paths.
Stephanie shared;
I had a really informative visit to Bellshill based electrical services and systems integrator business Kigtek Solutions Ltd . Thanks to Gordon, Andrew and Pamela for hosting me and apologies for keeping you so late after finishing time with a never ending list of questions. Genuinely blown away by the complexity of your products and services, not to mention the critical and integral part they play in the operations of so many blue chip companies. It was heartening to hear the investment Kigtek have made in growing their local workforce, particularly through a well established apprenticeship program. Kigtek, another entrepreneurial, innovative and sustainable business based in Uddingston and Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.
Thank you again to Stephanie and Andrew for giving up your time on Friday to visit us and for showing a genuine interest and appreciation of our work.
